3rd Ministerial meeting of the Coalition of Trade Ministers on Climate

On 27 March 2026, the Coalition of Trade Ministers on Climate convened its third ministerial meeting in Yaoundé, Cameroon, in the margins of the 14th Ministerial Conference of the WTO. The meeting marked a principal political moment of the Coalition, bringing together Ministers and Heads of Delegations representing over 60 members from different regions at different levels of development, climate vulnerabilities, and trade circumstances.

A key outcome of the meeting was the adoption of a Ministerial communiqué reaffirming the Coalition’s commitment to inclusive leadership and cooperation to ensure that trade contributes meaningfully to climate action, resilience, and shared prosperity.

At the meeting, the Coalition co-leads - Ecuador, European Union, Kenya and New Zealand - updated on work since the Coalition’s previous Ministerial meeting in 2024 to support Ministerial-level leadership, guidance and dialogue on a positive trade contribution to the global response to climate change, including through collective and individual efforts to advance the Coalition’s Menu of Voluntary Actions. The meeting also featured special remarks by the WTO Director-General, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala.

Ministers took stock of achievements, exchanged views on strategic priorities and provided political direction on next steps and potential collective actions.

The Coalition Ministers also formally welcomed two new members, Antigua and Barbuda and Paraguay, reaffirming its core principle of ensuring inclusive cooperation on the nexus of trade, climate, and sustainable development.

The Coalition's communiqué is available here.
